I don’t have a printer. Where can I print my forms?

As part of the filing process, you’ll need to print your bankruptcy forms at least once. Since this can vary locally, always check with your court (find the links in the state guide for your state) to confirm how many copies you’ll need to file your case.

If you don’t have a printer at home, consider the following options: 

Ask a family member or friend to use their printer. Offer to bring a ream of paper to print your forms on. You can buy that for relatively cheap at any Walmart near you. You won’t need the full ream (petitions are long, but they’re not that long) so you can give the rest of the paper to the person letting you use their printer as a small thank you that won’t cost you extra. 

Go to your local library. A lot of libraries offer printing services to their patrons. Before heading there, make sure you find out how much it costs to print at your local library. Since their primary business isn’t printing, it may end up being more expensive to print there then at an office supply store. 

Office supply store. Office supply stores offer printing services and it’s usually as simple as bringing them a thumb drive with the file you need to print. There may be a wait to get your forms back, so make sure you give yourself plenty of time. 

FedEx, UPS, and other shipping companies. If you have a shipping store near you, chances are you have a place to print near you. 

Printing your forms at work. This can be tricky as you don’t want to get in trouble for doing this. If your supervisor says it’s ok (tell them you can bring your own paper), that’s another option. Keep in mind, you’ll need to put your bankruptcy forms on a work computer (at least temporarily) to print from it. Whether that’s a good idea depends entirely on your employer and your relationship with your employer. 

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

• Don’t print double-sided & don’t staple your forms together.
• Since it will likely cost you at least some money, avoid having to print your forms multiple times by carefully reviewing everything and making any necessary changes beforehand.
