It depends. Upsolve provides you with a tool to prepare your bankruptcy forms and information through an extensive Learning Center. But if you use Upsolve, you are representing yourself and filing “pro se” (on your own without a lawyer).
Anyone filing pro se has to be able to:
- Visit the courthouse to file their forms and attend their 341 meeting
- Send documents via U.S. Mail
- Check their own mail on a regular basis
Currently, coronavirus restrictions have prompted many courts to create online workarounds for things typically handled in person but it’s not clear whether these types of accommodations are here to stay. Chances are that most courts will go back to their old way of doing things after the pandemic is under control, including requiring pro se filers to submit their forms in hard copy by mail or in person.
Whether Upsolve is right for you depends on many factors. Your ability to handle court visits and mail without assistance is one of them. If you’re comfortable with the above tasks, then being mobility-impaired should not be a barrier to using Upsolve for your bankruptcy filing.
