Why do the forms ask all this information about environmental hazards?

When a Chapter 7 bankruptcy is filed, the trustee that is assigned to the case becomes responsible for all of the property owned by the filer. If a filer has 12 leaky oil drums stored in their vacant lot, the trustee needs to know about it ASAP so they can do something about it.
