Most debts can be erased in Chapter 7 bankruptcy, including:

- Phone bills
But you cannot erase the following debt in Chapter 7 bankruptcy:
- Secured debt like a home mortgage
- Most student loans
- Taxes from the last 3 years
- Alimony or child support
- Personal injury you caused while drinking
- Money you owe the government
- Court fines and penalties
